Every year we participate in a Fantasy Football league with some friends and coworkers. This year, we held the draft at our house. We were told by the league commissioner that he would be bringing pizza for the group. On his way over he texted me to preheat the oven. I was…confused. Did he plan on making pizza in our kitchen? When he arrived, I had my first experience with Papa Murphy’s Pizza.
The concept of Papa Murphy’s can be a little confusing at first, so just go with me. You can call ahead or place your order in the restaurant (with locations in Lake Mary, Apopka, and Ocoee). Then the fine people at Papa Murphy’s will use their wide range of cheese, sauce, and toppings to make your ready-to-bake pizza. You then take this home with you and use their easy to follow instructions to bake the pizza in your oven. Take N’ Bake pizza!
Why would you do this when you can just order delivery? I love homemade pizza, a lot. More options, better dough, less grease, and it can be a healthier option while not sacrificing taste. There’s only one problem with homemade pizza: I hate actually making it. Getting all those ingredients together can get rather expensive, and potentially wasteful if you’re just making one. Also, I’m terrible at making dough. It’s true, ask anyone. It’s been said that my hands are where “dough goes to die”.
Papa Murphy’s manages to give you the homemade pizza experience, as if you were a master at it, through almost no effort on your own. The selection available to you is far beyond what you’ll find at your normal pizza delivery restaurant (you can even create your own custom pizza), and the quality is out of this world. From classics like cheese and pepperoni, to stuffed, to their own signature options.
For this write-up, we went with the Chicago-Style Stuffed pizza. Stuffed inside the pizza was salami, pepperoni, sausage, ground beef (alright, we didn’t go with a healthy pizza this time), red and white onions, and tomatoes. I called ahead, and my pie was ready when I arrived. Service was friendly and fast.
From there it was home and in the oven at 425 degress for around 20 minutes (less than 15 if you don’t go stuffed pizza). And the taste is incredible. Easily one of the better pizzas I’ve had. It’ll be hard to go back to delivery or frozen when the time inevitably comes.
